Why You NEED Scotch Tape in Your Diaper Bag

There are lots of phases you go through as a parent with your kids.  Sleeping through the night, teething, moving on to solid foods, etc. but any parent will tell you once your kiddos start feeding themselves and you can actually take a bite of your meal while it’s warm is a big milestone.

I’ll never forget when Lainie started feeding herself and we headed out to a restaurant for the first time.  We were excited to entertain her with crayons as the waitress walked over with the coloring paper menu. Her little hand grabbed the crayons and began scribbling and the paper went flying around right with it.

We spent the rest of the meal taking turns holding the paper down so the other person could eat a few bites.  We assumed now that she was feeding herself, we were in the clear.  Unfortunately, not so.  As soon as we got home I walked over to our junk drawer, took out a roll of scotch tape, and tossed it in the diaper bag.

Ever since that day, kids menu coloring sheets have been taped to the table and my husband and I have eaten our meal while it’s warm…with two hands available.

Never thought I’d need to carry office supplies to succeed as a parent but man, it feels like a genius move.
